Antequera Health – and Daycare Center

The Antequera Healthcare and Daycare Center

is a small community facility that serves as both a place for healing and early childhood development. Rooted in the quiet town of Antequera, Bohol—known for its crafts, forests, and tightly-knit communities—the design takes cues from the softness of its environment and the familiarity of rural domestic forms.
Nestled among existing trees, the architecture seeks to blend with the site rather than clear it. Natural textures, shaded eaves, and modest forms allow the building to feel grounded and welcoming—more home than institution. The structure’s tone is intentionally warm and familiar, reflecting a sense of care and safety.
Organized linearly, the healthcare and daycare wings are positioned side by side, forming an open corridor that culminates in a small, enclosed playground. This central space acts as a shared courtyard where children are free to play within view and reach of their parents or guardians. The planning emphasizes visibility, safety, and shared use.
